Week 5: February 9 - February 15
This week I bought plane tickets for my first out of country trip! I am going Taiwan! I am beyond excited. I never been to Taiwan before and the itinerary for the trip is packed. That is the biggest highlight of this week.
I decided to stop by the west side of Singapore! The west side of Singapore is more "deserted" and an area for factories. Though, there are two large malls JEM and IMM (an outlet). I didn't realize how big of an influence Japan had in Singapore because there were many stores and products from there.
Other than that, the other highlights of the week were eating out. I tried mala at A Hot Hideout, a mala restaurant on campus. My spice tolerance was low so I kept having to drink Thai tea after every bite. I also had a Galentines brunch with two other exchangers the day after at a Tiktok trendy cafe!

February 10: Bought tickets to Taiwan
February 14: Mala Dinner with Dorm Neighbor!
February 15: Galentines @ Rise Bakehouse
Week 6: February 16 - February 21
Who said going abroad means I will just relax the whole time? Not me. I decided to go to the NUS Career Fair which is three days long with companies famous locally and internationally. I wanted to compare my experience of career fair in NUS compared to UHM. I noticed that NUS Career Fair had a lot of companies from STEM fields while UHM mostly had departments from the state and city and county. It was fun chatting it up with recruiters from Singapore and learning more about the companies.
What's also fun is the Singapore Zoo! Just two days ago, tickets were half off were residents! I was a temporary resident with other exchangers and we decided to take advantage of this deal and go to the Zoo! Regular prices would be around $20 USD. Singapore Zoo does a great job in providing a natural environment for the animals while also allowing us visitors to visit them at a safe and clear distance. The animals were not in barred cages and their homes seemed quite clean! I think the biggest highlight of the zoo for me was the pelicans. THEY WERE HUMONGOUS!!
