April 8 - April 19

The time has come.....the final two weeks of classes. Business courses have their final exams during the middle of April. After that, they are done for the semester. For other courses, exam dates vary. The official last day of school would be May 11.

The exams were not too hard. It was doable as long as you study. For two of my classes, I was allowed a cheat sheet. However, for one of the classes, the cheat sheet was required to be completely handwritten. This is good because writing things down helps with practice and memory, but also can be bad since it would take more time to finish.

These two weeks were honestly a bit tense. Finals season is quite serious at NUS. I saw people stay up all night at Starbucks. There were no seats in or outside the store. I would see windows of dorms around me lit up in the AMs. I understand the pressure because NUS goes by the bell-curve grading scale. The grade you receive is not dependent on the amount you get correct out of the total. It is dependent on how well you do compared to your peers. For example, if the average score on the exam was 56/100 and you got that scoring, then you would be getting a B or C not a 56%. If you scored the highest score which was 78/100, then you would receive an A.

On a lighter note, the best part of these two weeks was Aldren visiting from Taiwan! After visiting him in Taiwan since he was exchanging there, it was his turn to visit the country I was studying at! It was so nice to see a familiar face again and show someone around Singapore through my perspective.

And thus ends my academic journey at NUS, but not the official end! Since I finished early, I still had time to travel. Official move-out day was May 11 so I planned to visit Japan and come back to Singapore one last time before going back home to Hawaii. Stay tuned for more adventures ;)
